A transparent background lets you drop a subject onto any colour, banner or mockup without a white box around it. The format that stores transparency is PNG (or WebP) — JPG can't.
How to make a background transparent
- Upload your image to the Background Remover.
- The AI cuts out the subject — even hair and fuzzy edges — and removes everything behind it.
- Download a transparent PNG.
Where transparent PNGs are useful
- Product cutouts to place on any background or lifestyle scene.
- Logos and watermarks that sit over other images.
- Store banners and ads where a white box would look amateur.
Keeping the transparency
Save/export as PNG (or WebP) — if you convert to JPG, the transparent area fills with white, because JPG has no alpha channel. Need the file smaller? Convert to WebP, which keeps transparency at a fraction of PNG's size.
